Home-owners, material suppliers, other contractors, and employees may file complaints against CCB licenseees. The CCB's Dispute Resolution Services reviews these complaints.

People file complaints for different reasons. A homeowner may allege poor workmanship or breach of contract by the contractor. Or, a contrator may encourage a home-owner to file a complaint to use the CCB's Dispute Resolution Services.

A construction business, no matter how good, may have a complaint filed against it. A high volume of work can increase the chance of having a dispute on the record. On the other hand, a large number of recent complaints may indicate a contractor is having problems satisfying customers.

Complaint Status (Last 10 Years)

Disputes Voluntarily Settled : 1
These complaints involve construction disputes which have been voluntarily resolved. Some of these matters involve good faith disputes between the parties in which neither party believes they are at fault. In other cases, the contractor, complainant, or another party (sometimes a sub-contractor or material supplier) has accepted responsibility for the issues involved. The agency considers matters resolved by voluntary settlement as closed and an indication that a contractor has taken appropriate action to address the complaint.
Disputes Closed by the CCB for Other Reasons : 3
These are disputes the CCB has closed for reasons such as withdrawal or abandonment by the complainant.
